Every PetSec member — paying owner or free scout — runs the app in the background. When a pet goes missing, every nearby phone is part of the search, passively and automatically, without anyone sharing personal information.
No application form, no waiting for approval. The whole onboarding flow runs in the app.
Install PetSec on your Android phone, tap Register as an Owner, and verify your number with a WhatsApp one-time code. Capture your address on a map and register each of your pets — name, breed, photo.
Order a PetSec BLE tag for each pet from inside the app and pay securely via PayFast. Tags arrive by courier within a few working days. No GPS, no SIM card — just a short-range Bluetooth signal that lasts months on a single battery.
When your tag arrives, attach it to your pet's collar and scan it from home. PetSec confirms you're at your registered address, and from that moment your pet is on the network. First month is free; from there it's R49 per month for the first pet plus R29 for each additional. The moment any PetSec phone detects your pet you'll get a push notification and a WhatsApp message.
Owners pay a small monthly subscription — that's how the network is funded. Scouts join free and contribute detection coverage from their phone. HOAs and estates can roll the whole community on at once.

Your GPS is used at signup to anchor your home address and at tag activation to confirm the tag is at home. PetSec never tracks where you or your phone go afterwards.
